On those humid, boiling hot summer days, when I’m in no mood to get dressed (let alone dolled-up), my easy staple is the printed maxi. It’s the simplest, most elegant way to elevate your summer style without much effort – plus it works for day and night. I love the low back on this one – a sexy silhouette to showcase that golden tan (and ps. here’s how to perfect yours). I was taking meetings in downtown LA the day I shot this look, so I opted for simple neutral heels and statement jewelry – but the styling options don’t end there for a great maxi dress. For a day at the beach, dress your maxi down a bit with flat gladiator sandals and a fun, bright shades. Feeling adventerous? Or glam things up by pairing your maxi with open-toe heels, a slim-cut white blazer and stacked boho bangles – I’m trying this look out at a wedding in Napa Valley next weekend, and I can’t wait!

Totally lovely, Louise! I’m sure the dress will look totally smashing for the wedding with the white blazer and dressy accessories. The maxi-dress is indeed a fantastic summer staple. I’m planning to wear one flying from San Francisco to Rome later next month paired with a jean jacket, scarf and comfy shoes…would love to see what you recommend wearing for travel in the summer.

Catherine
