There are certain wardrobe classics that I always find myself going back to at particular times in the year. Camel coats in winter, slip dresses in the summer, and now – denim jackets for Fall. They’re the perfect transitional layer that adds a certain laid back air to your look. And now that most of my jeans aren’t really fitting, it’s nice to get a dose of denim in a more comfortable way. I’m definitely missing my high waisted jeans at the moment!
I have several denim jackets in my closet, and I don’t feel guilty about it. Oversized, blue, black, white – and now this cool cropped version with a raw hem? Yes please! Each one is completely different, and perfect for many looks. I wanted to go for a slightly edgier feel with this outfit, since this dress is on the girly side. Transforming the vibe was as easy as throwing this jacket over my shoulders.
Styling tip? If you’re wearing a long dress, a shorter top layer will tend to look more flattering – especially if you’re wearing flats like I am here. It balances out your proportions, and makes your legs look much longer! I wanted to bring out the floral print on the dress by adding a pop of red with these cool slides – you guys know how obsessed I am with this style (read my post on mules and slides here).
