My Favorite Bags For Every Occasion This Season

If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then a good handbag is… her gay husband?! Seriously, a killer handbag can be just as much of a status symbol or statement accessory as an expensive piece of jewelry. And often, they’re just as good of an investment. When it comes to my outfits, I think I get the most questions of all about my accessories, namely my handbag choices. I’ve spent many years collecting a cool selection of every type of bag, from classic designer, to unique clutches and trendy pieces that make an outfit pop. A cool bag has always been one of my style secret weapons for taking an outfit to the next level – even a look as simple as a tee and jeans will look effortlessly chic with an eye-catching bag.

From bags with chic shapes, beautiful embroidery, embossed leather, and interesting fabrics like cork or straw, there are a lot of bags on my wish list this Spring. Whether you’re getting dressed up for an evening out, heading to your daily meetings or to weekend brunch, there’s always a bag to suit your look. Scroll down below to shop my picks by outfit!

A Night Out

When you’re dressing up for a night out with your girls, or happy hour with the hubs, a compact, polished bag is my favorite look this season. Think a velvet (like mine in these shots) or a solid clutch, or a mini crossbody.

For The Office

As a professional, you need something that can carry everything you need for work, while still looking chic. A work bag may be on the bigger side – it should be able to fit your laptop or tablet, a notebook, a planner, a pen, and some makeup for doing touch ups throughout the day. This calls for a bigger, more architectural-shaped bag like a shopper, satchel, or classic leather backpack.

Flea Market Strolling

Now it really depends on what kind of items you’re looking to purchase that day, but on weekends I like to keep it casual and small – like a cute cylinder straw bag. These make great beach bags for summer, too!

Weekend Brunch

It’s the weekend, so it’s time for your more fun and bright bags to make an appearance! There are some beautiful patterns, tapestries, graffiti-inspired bags and embroidery out there at the moment.

The Everything Bag

Now this is the bag you use almost daily, so it should fit all your essentials without being too bulky. Some girls have multiple “everything bags” (including me), but I normally like to carry a bigger satchel because it’s just much easier to find things in there and fit a lot more of what I need.
