Cold-Weather Cocktail: Non-Alcoholic Mulled Apple Cider

Readers of my blog will know that I love a good cocktail, but since I’m pregnant (and in the home stretch I might add, woohoo!), I’ve been finding ways to create non-alcoholic drink ideas that will allow me to feel like I’m not missing out on all the festivities. New Years Eve is coming up, and I wanted a warm, yummy drink that I could sip on while ringing in 2018 – if I can make it past 9pm that is, LOL. Apple cider is a quintessential winter beverage, and while so many yummy cocktail recipes exist out there that incorporate it as an ingredient, I’ve created a non-alcoholic mulled apple cider recipe that even the booziest of partygoers can appreciate it. It’s warm, spicy, and sweet – even the kiddos will love it. It’s perfect as an easy drink option for hostesses, or even just sharing with your hubby or friends on a night in. Try it, and let me know what you think!

Supplies:
For Cider
4 cups of apple cider (we used Martinelli’s)
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
Half nutmeg
1 1/2 cinnamon sticks
3/4 teaspoons whole allspice
1/2 teaspoon cardamom seed
4 whole cloves
Ground Cinnamon (for garnish)
Granulated sugar (for garnish)
Rosemary sprig (for garnish)

Cider

Step 1:
Combine the brown sugar, cider, and spices in a large saucepan. Bring to boil.

Step 2:
Cover the pan, reduce heat, and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 3:
Turn off the heat and let cool for about 5 minutes.

Step 4:
Strain the mixture in to a pitcher.

For the Garnish

Step 1:
Pour a small amount of the apple cider in to a low dish or plate.

Step 2:
Mix equal parts sugar and cinnamon in another small bowl.

Step 3:
Dip the rim of your glass in to the bowl or plate of cider, then in to the mixture to create a cinnamon sugar rim. Pour the cider in to the glass, garnish with a rosemary spring, and serve!
