The Must-Have Layer I Can’t Stop Wearing

There are certain wardrobe classics that I always find myself going back to at particular times in the year. Camel coats in winter, slip dresses in the summer, and now – denim jackets for Fall. They’re the perfect transitional layer that adds a certain laid back air to your look. And now that most of my jeans aren’t really fitting, it’s nice to get a dose of denim in a more comfortable way. I’m definitely missing my high waisted jeans at the moment!

I have several denim jackets in my closet, and I don’t feel guilty about it. Oversized, blue, black, white – and now this cool cropped version with a raw hem? Yes please! Each one is completely different, and perfect for many looks. I wanted to go for a slightly edgier feel with this outfit, since this dress is on the girly side. Transforming the vibe was as easy as throwing this jacket over my shoulders.

Styling tip? If you’re wearing a long dress, a shorter top layer will tend to look more flattering – especially if you’re wearing flats like I am here. It balances out your proportions, and makes your legs look much longer! I wanted to bring out the floral print on the dress by adding a pop of red with these cool slides – you guys know how obsessed I am with this style (read my post on mules and slides here). Love these pieces together. I would love another fall camel coat blog post . I know your temps are still high but in Michigan it is really cooling off. I would love to find a great camel coat to wear before I have to pull out my parka. Lol

  • #ad Ok so this one’s for my Mum-bosses and Girl-bosses out there. Real talk. Do you guys ever feel like you’re spinning a gazillion plates in the air at once?! I have got the busiest week of all time ahead – not that I’m complaining – but I feel like I need to be more organized than ever nowadays, running a business and being a mummy at the same time. And when it’s that time of the month, not only do I cry at the drop of a hat (anyone else get teary watching a cute commercial?) but it used to be easy to let that slow me down. So, I’ve partnered with @Always_brand, (I love their Infinity pad which has a thin and flexible design so you’ll forget you’re wearing a pad), to have an open dialogue with you guys about how women can navigate through it all. What are some of the tricks, tips, products and apps you use to stay on track? #AlwaysAmbassador #ShapeMyInfinity

  • #ad Since having Honor, I feel like I’ve grown even closer to you guys. My followers have got to be the most loyal, kind and hilarious group of women ever. Nothing is off limits, and we talk about all sorts! So I’m getting personal today, and opening up about one thing that happens after birth that none of my mum friends, nor I, knew about. Pads! Yep…I’m going there. If there’s one thing you don’t want to worry about as an exhausted new mom it’s your period. So I’m partnering with @Always_brand to talk about my personal story, and the ways in which products like Always Infinity pads (with zero feel protection) can solve your new mum, after-birth worries, (and help you go about your crazy days).
