Vamp It Up: Monochromatic Burgundy Makeup For Fall

New season, new makeup! I’m always gaining inspiration for beauty looks from backstage model moments at runway shows – I love the close up pics of the makeup, and each season brings something new to try out. I have way too many screenshots in my phone of beauty looks that I want to try…I’ll see something I love and file it for a rainy afternoon of inspo-scanning. One look that I saved during the fall shows was this really vampy, monochromatic burgundy makeup look. Dark, blood-stained red is a huge color for fall, and while we normally wear it on our lips, it shockingly looks great on your lids as well. Cool tip? You can literally use your burgundy lipstick as eyeshadow! Take a lip brush and apply some matte burgundy lipstick as a shadow base on the eyes. Chances are you already have a shade like this in your beauty arsenal, so time to bust it out! Next, use a warm reddish-brown shadow on top and a neutral brown in the crease (I love this Chanel fall eyeshadow palette). Blend well and apply heavy mascara for sexy, full lashes. Finish off the look with the same burgundy lipstick, on your lips. This look would be perfect for a holiday party or wedding. Let me know what you think in the comments below, and shop the products I used below.

  • One of my biggest saving graces during pregnancy and these first few months with Honor, has been having a solid group of mummy friends to talk to. Things can get lonely, even when you're surrounded by people. Which sounds silly but am I right?! It's so important to have someone who's going through (or gone through) what you are, to share your worries with, go to for advice, or just plain vent to. I was so happy to find the @peanut app, which is a social network for meeting like-minded mummies in your area. I've been using their Pages feature to get advice on everything from going back to work, post-natal fitness, and weaning Honor onto foods. I've had some amazing tips from other mums - I wish their new 'Pregnancy' page had been around when I was pregnant! If you're pregnant, or a new mummy, get on @peanut and share your tips with me! #peanutapp
  • I did it! Thank you Queen of color @lorrigoddard_ for making me blonde for the summer
