Hi guys, I’m partnering with Ann Taylor to show you how I pack for a summer adventure! If you’ve been following my travels on Instagram over the past couple of weeks, you’ll see I’ve been exploring different European cities – we’ve planned to do 5 countries in 4 weeks! Figuring out how to pack for this trip was a fun challenge (every single look was thought out in advance, because I could only take one case – and I’m passing on my packing secrets to you here!). It’s just the beginning of summer, so depending on where you’re visiting, it can be quite hot during the day, but still chilly at night. Then there’s the mix of activities, from sight-seeing to meetings, romantic dates to a friend’s wedding – I needed outfits for a wide range of occasions. So, I wanted to create a capsule wardrobe consisting of classic pieces that mix and match in several different ways, highlighted by key killer accessories, to keep the packing as light as possible.
I’m loving Ann Taylor‘s collection for spring and summer – this neutral linen dress and brown suede sandals go perfectly together but can all be paired with other pieces to create totally different looks. For example, I undid the buttons and threw this dress over a bikini to the pool, and then styled the sandals with a body-hugging rib knit dress for going out to dinner on another night. My top tips for travel? Take 5 key items in a neutral palette, and pepper them with more glamorous accessories – like this chunky bracelet, gold dangly earrings, and a red lip. But keep an eye out for accessories in natural-looking fabrics and materials, too. This rattan clutch, and the woven suede sandals (kitten heels by the way – so I can stay in them day to night), are both really perfect for a historical or beachy backdrop. Think about where you’re going in terms of location, not just events, and imagine how you’d love to look every day. It might sound silly, but this kind of style visualization really helps – before packing, I watched La Piscine and The Talented Mr Ripley to get my chic French and Italian vibes flowing! I’m a huge fan of classic movies (particularly ones set on the Riviera), so this look made me feel comfortable and happy strolling around the gorgeous city of Avignon when I was there for a wedding last weekend.
