I’ve been noticing how some of my fashion icons (editors, stylists and bloggers in the industry) have been donning looser and looser silhouettes. Baggy t-shirts worn with loose palazzo pants, voluminous a-line skirts and long tops. It looks killer if you nail the proportions just right, but can add bulk or swamp your figure if you’re not careful. It’s worth giving this look a go – I just love the laid-back glamour, I think it shows an inner confidence and understated sexiness when a woman doesn’t feel the need to wear something too tight or revealing. Just look at Olivia Palermo, she always looks incredible but rarely rocks a bodycon dress, or shows much skin at all. The key is to make sure one area of your body is creating shape. So for me – styling this particular look, as I ran out the door I grabbed a navy belt and wrapped it twice around the top and skirt. Instead, you could choose to create a sexy area at the ankle, by wearing killer heels. Or draw the eye up with a hair pulled back into a high, messy bun, statement earrings and a bold, smoky eye. Oh and one more thing, this roll-neck racer front top? It’s the hottest new shape for fall. So lookout for tops in this silhouette and experiment with how you like to style them…have fun with it!
