Changing your hairstyle is one of the most frightening but exciting experiences there is! I recently took the plunge and chopped off several inches into a short bob – the shortest I’ve ever had my hair but by far one of my best decisions – I love it! Mane Addicts is an awesome hair site by my friend Jen Atkin (hair royalty, she styles the Kardashians peeps haha!). She invited me to Meche Salon to revamp my longer lob for summer. I’ll be traveling throughout Asia soon and was considering the heat, so in a bold move I requested a shorter style that would be easier to manage and cooler in the humidity. I also love the freshness and youthfulness or a shorter cut. Thank you to Danny Rishoff, who chopped away and didn’t scare the crap out of me while bits of hair flew to the floor!
In terms of color, I’m far less daring. Once or twice a year I have some subtle balleage done (less obvious than highlights, the blonde is painted on from halfway down the shaft, not the root). Colorist Chris Greene is fantastic, he created a natural, surfer-inspired blonde that basically looked like I’d been on the beach for a month – perfect! I can’t recommend switching up your hair style more – it’s like a new lease of life and even more exciting than splashing out on a new wardrobe. Just be sure to do your research: find a ton of photos you like, and chat with the colorist and hair stylist beforehand. They’ll give you honest feedback about what will and wont work. I can’t stop shaking it around now – it feels so fresh and fun…ready for my round-the-world trip.
