I had a cocktail recently made with the herb sage, and I was blown away by how tasty it was! I’ve mentioned to you guys before that I prefer drinks with a kick, but this Honey Sage Fizz has such an interesting balance of sweet and savory flavor, it’s made it on to my list of fave-ever libations. Gin is the spirit of choice here, and if you don’t know a lot about alcohol, it’s a super clean flavor that makes it prime for mixing with other flavors. Plus, this is a pretty healthy cocktail, low in sugar and with no nasty chemicals, it’s fresh and guilt-free.
3 oz gin
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup water
about 10-12 fresh sage leaves
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
Step 1: Make the honey sage syrup first. Combine 1/2 cup honey, 1/2 cup water and 5-6 sage leaves in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and stir until all the honey has dissolved. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
Step 2: Depending on how sweet you like your cocktails, combine 1/2 to 1 oz of your honey sage syrup with 3 oz of gin and 1/2 oz of lime juice. Stir well.
Step 3: Add ice (I like making large or round cubes ahead of time — they look great in cocktail glasses and don’t water your drinks down as much) a splash of club soda. Garnish with 2-3 sage leaves and enjoy!
Cheers to you!
